The Senior Art Director


The Senior Art Director's key purpose is to concept and develop the creative products that Mekanism produces. This includes new business pitches, Mekanism internal (marketing materials) and existing retainer/project client campaigns. Our expectation is that you will strategize, create and execute innovative campaigns of a globally competitive caliber that achieve our clients’ strategic goals.

Under the guidance of CDs and in partnership with writers, Senior Art Directors will take the Big Ideas and blow them out. 

In the production process, Senior Art Directors develop and design campaign elements across all media (i.e. social, web, print, etc.). Other tasks may include: casting talent, working with production companies, directors, designers, animators and printers.

Art Directors are charged with creating dynamic and well-designed presentation materials. Working closely with the Client Strategy/New Business teams to make sure all content (strategy/creative/syndication/etc.) is cleanly layed out and structured. 


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • CAMPAIGN VISUALIZATION & DEV: Working under the CD/ACDs to develop creative campaign look and feel and development for existing clients. In partnership with writers, run day-to-day creative design through campaign delivery (under CD’s direction). Daily visual brand oversight, layouts, presentations and concepting.
  • NEW BUSINESS: Work under CDs to visualize concepts, design, and develop new business campaigns. When appropriate, participate in the pitch.
  • WORLD-CLASS PRESENTATION MATERIALS: Senior Designers in partnership with Design Directors are charged with setting the look and feel for all client and new business presentations. Those presentations can be based in Google docs for other departments to build off of, or for bigger presentations and pitches in InDesign. Once designed and set, Senior Designers can oversee Designers/Junior Designers through the project/pitch to keep the overall look and feel at the world-class level.
  • CLIENT PRESENTATIONS: Senior Designers should be able to confidently lead creative presentations to clients solo when needed. Without CD/ACDs assistance. Selling designs through with clear and dynamic presentation skills. 
  • CREATIVE TALENT MENTORSHIP: Working with AD/Designers and junior designers to grow in design, layout, presentation skills. Participating in regular check-ins.
  • CREATIVE & TECHNICAL INNOVATION: Collaborate across all departments to innovate groundbreaking ideas that leverage emerging technology.
