The Senior Copywriter

Senior Copywriters at Mekanism key purpose is to concept and develop the creative products Mekanism produces. This includes new business pitches, Mekanism internal (marketing materials) and existing retainer/project client campaigns. Our expectation is that you will strategize, create and execute innovative campaigns of a globally competitive caliber that achieve our clients’ strategic goals.

Working with CDs and ECDs, senior writers will develop the Big Ideas and blow them out.

In the production process, Writers create copy across all media (i.e. social, web, print, etc.). Other task may include: castings talent, working with production companies, directors, designers, animators and printers.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT: Working under the CD/ACDs to develop creative campaign initiatives for existing clients. In partnership with ADs, run day-to-day creative writing through campaign delivery (under CD’s direction). Daily brand oversight, concepting, copywriting.

  • NEW BUSINESS: Work under CDs to concept, write new business campaigns. When appropriate, participate in the pitch.
  • WORK IN THE BOOK: Senior writers be getting work in presentation and pitches consistently. Not just adding to the big ideas presentation by CDs, but beginning to bring those big ideas.
  • CRACKING THE BIG IDEA: At the senior writer level, creatives should begin to develop the ability to crack the big platforms with oversight of CDs.
  • CLIENT PRESENTATIONS: Senior writers should be able to confidently lead creative presentations to clients solo when needed. Without CD/ACDs assistance. Selling concepts through with clear and dynamic presentation skills.
  • CREATIVE TALENT MENTORSHIP: Working with junior writers to grow in concepting, writing and presentation skills. Participating in regular check-ins.
  • CREATIVE & TECHNICAL INNOVATION: Collaborate across all departments to innovate groundbreaking ideas that leverage emerging technology.
