We get it, our parents wanted us to become doctors too. But do you know how many medical schools are equipped with foosball tables? Zero, we looked. And while a PhD is great, getting a Master’s Degree is just as good (if not better), especially if it’s from the Mek Masters Program*. Here, you’ll learn all about storytelling in emerging media. You’ll work on real projects for real clients. Big ones. You’ll also learn how to be fearless and pitch big ideas, how to collaborate and how to put all those .gifs you’ve collected over the years to good use in all agency emails, all in a friendly, innovative environment. AND, you’ll be paid, so there’s no need to take out a loan. Yeah, pretty sure you don’t get all of that in medical school. Or maybe you do. We don’t know, we never went.

*Not a real Master’s Program, but definitely a real internship at a real advertising agency called Mekanism. 

The Role:

The Community Management Intern is a motivated self-starter who actively monitors and engages with online communities on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter in coordination with our social strategists on behalf of our clients, in the voice of their brands.

You will work collaboratively with our strategists, creatives and clients to deliver best-in-class social content, meet social goals and provide reporting on feedback based on the needs of the digital communities you service.

You must be a team player who has a passion for storytelling on every platform. You’re passionate about social media and actively participate in them yourself. You understand the value of communicating with digital communities and are comfortable with working on both institutional and emerging platforms.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • The ideal candidate will help translate marketing/media objectives into a content plan
  • Develop and publish content for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter
  • Engage with communities on said platforms in the brand voice
  • Deliver upon community management duties such as reporting, content strategy, incorporating client feedback and working with creative and account teams
  • Keep up with platform changes and new social media tools to help clients achieve business goals
  • Be proactive and develop innovative, first time ever social activations
  • Exhibit effective project and time management skills
  • Assist team members with brainstorming, creative and strategy meetings


  • Candidate should have up to 1 year of Community Management experience representing a brand (via internship or applicable school work)
  • Great writing and communication skills
  • A strong grasp of major social media platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications, Google Docs specifically PowerPoint, Google Slides, Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience using social monitoring and management tools (such as Spredfast, Crimson Hexagon, Sprout Social, etc.) is a plus!


June 3rd - August 30th

Full-time, Monday - Friday, minimum of 40 hours/week.
