The Creative Alliance supports Civic Nation - a non-profit, non-partisan organization that uses grassroots organizing, public awareness and culture change to address some of the nation’s most pressing challenges. Civic Nation focuses on Educational Access, Gender Equality, Anti-Hate & Discrimination and Civic Engagement with a wide range of campaigns including: Better Make Room, It’s On Us, United State of Women, ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge and #VoteTogether.

In just over two years, the Creative Alliance has grown to include over 80 companies that help design, build, and amplify Civic Nation’s campaigns. The Creative Alliance includes top industry names like 72andSunny, Awesomeness, Facebook, Broadway Video, and BET. Our members believe in donating their time and resources to help Americans know, act and care about Civic Nation’s causes.


The Role

The Director of the Creative Alliance is the leader of the Creative Alliance and an essential part of the Civic Nation leadership team responsible for managing all creative and digital strategies for the Civic Nation initiatives. They will manage the digital and creative team that will, in partnership with Creative Alliance members, develop the overall strategy for fully integrated creative campaigns.

They works directly in partnership with Civic Nation leadership and Creative Alliance Co-Chairs and Board members contributing to all aspects of the Creative Alliance organizational development and implementation, such as strategy and ideation, recruiting and managing our members, and fundraising. Additionally, this person will work across Civic Nation identifying projects and capacity for all creative and digital projects. They will manage the Creative Department which includes the Creative Alliance Manager, Digital Director and additional staff.

They will work out of the Mekanism office in New York.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing a team, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is a self-assured, collaborative, creative problem-solver and is passionate about progressive social change.



Provide Creative Vision and Strategy

  • Serve as the final approver on all strategies, activations and branding for Civic Nation campaigns.
  • Ensure all campaigns (both online and offline) drive impact and cultural change through innovative ideas that are, award-winning, press-worthy, and foster member growth and engagement.

Strategic Planning

  • Establish goals & scopes of work for all projects.
  • Drive long term vision of the Creative Alliance and Civic Nation Digital Department.
  • Identify opportunities for integrated and cross-collaborative creative and digital campaigns.

Effectively Manage Team

  • Create systems and processes to establish creative and digital collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration with remote team
  • Lead project management of Creative department managing capacity of digital and creative staffers.
  • Oversee Civic Nation digital platforms including implementation across initiatives including BSD,

Support Financial Organization and Performance

  • Coordinate with Civic Nation Chief Development Officer to reach overall financial goals.
  • Oversee organization financial health including budgeting.
  • Manage and drive the overall profitability of the organization including fundraising and identifying opportunities for collaborative fundraising.

Represent the Creative Alliance and Civic Nation

  • Positively and professionally represent the organization at industry events and other functions.
  • Build and maintain high-profile relationships with C-Suite executives of Creative Alliance member companies and brand partners.



  • You are passionate about social issues and love doing good in the world.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in a related field required.
  • You have 7-10 years of experience at a creative agency or organization
  • You have experience working on large creative campaigns with heavy digital and social media components. Bonus if you have experience working on pro-social or policy campaigns.
  • Proven track record of successfully working with C-Suite level executives of Fortune 500 companies.
  • You should have a passion for organization, problem solving & social good.
  • You have experience managing a diverse team.
  • You are scrappy, positive, motivated, and passionate.
