Group Brand Director

The Role

This person will initially lead a complex start-up fitness brand that is changing the category and has become an iconic brand. Eventually this role will take on more brands/projects/new biz beyond this brand. The Group Brand Director for Mekanism is a passionate, collaborative, outgoing, creative-oriented leader. This position within Mekanism is a key member in our (New York) office, leading a team of people and business growth for a key account.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Must autonomously lead one of Mekanism’s largest brands with a big team and tons of amazing moving parts.
  • Work with Head of Brand Mngt, CFO, COO to share and strategize on how to manage growth and overall health of the brand.
  • Lead the development of launch campaigns for existing and new products in partnership with ECD / CD to ensure the process is running smoothly.
  • Leads campaign development from beginning to end, including getting strategy and creative to A+ level in partnership with strategy and creative.
  • Effectively manage a large retainer scope and resource plan for multiple campaign initiatives to be profitable
  • Effectively oversee multiple productions at once providing thought leadership on best practices

Build and Grow Client Relationships

  • Understand brand’s business and generate new ideas to grow the account
  • Able to sense when a brand/account needs more attention and have a POV on how to address challenges quickly.

Lead Campaign Development - Creative Brief, Strategy Development, and Presentation

  • Partner with Strategic Planning to turn our client briefs into creative opportunities
  • Maintain a strong presentation process with our clients, making sure all creative is presented in a compelling way.
  • Understand qual and quant testing processes, can talk strategy independently

Effectively Manage Team

  • Foster teamwork and a constructive work environment across disciplines
  • Ability to recognize where staff growth and structure changes are needed to support business
  • Continually inspire and bring out the best in team within a fast paced environment

Contribute to New Business

  • Help grow the Mekanism’s client arsenal by working on new business development and new brand onboarding as needed.

  • 13+ Years of Advertising/Brand Experience (or comparable) working at an advertising agency. Fitness brand and / or start-up experience ideal
  • You should definitely have a passion for problem solving, production and relationship mgmt
  • You are a master of the details and take pleasure in rolling up your sleeves in the trenches when needed
  • You have experience working on large global brands & integrated campaigns across various media channels
  • No challenge is too daunting. You might not know how to do it but you figure it out.
